Rachel R. Burkemper practiced law for nearly six years (2002-2008) in her family's general practice law firm in Troy, Missouri. Rachel handled a variety of cases including estate planning and business law but her emphasis was in civil litigation, primarily in the areas of real estate, probate and fraud.

Having attended the University of Washington as an undergraduate, Rachel fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and, after years of living and working in Asia and then Missouri, she decided to move back to the area in 2008. She now actively litigates real estate and fraud cases and continues to provide estate planning services and business/commercial real estate services to clients.

Consistent with Rachel's belief in service to the community and protection of the environment, Rachel formally served on the State of Missouri's Solid Waste Advisory Board, and chaired it towards the end of her tenure (2005-2008). Additionally, Rachel is a member of the Washington State Bar's Real Property, Probate and Trust section as well as the Environmental and Land Use Law Section.

Essential to Rachel's approach to the practice of law is the application of theories and practices used within alternative dispute resolution arenas, such as facilitative mediation. Though Rachel is a civil litigator, she is also an experienced mediator who values cultural sensitivity and creative, but practical solutions to problems that often are not available to litigants. Rachel is a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution section of the Washington State Bar.

When not practicing law, Rachel is busy raising two teenagers. Besides playing the role of "soccer mom," Rachel enjoys running, cooking, and, when the opportunity arises, international travel.
